In this society, no matter what, everybody is equal. By limiting the smarter and stronger person, the equality has been achieved. And it was changed into Dystopia.

Hazel is too stupid. She never thinks and doesn't have any thought of freedom.
4. How does George seem to feel about his handicaps?

  He is used to it.
5. Consider the character of Harrison in terms of both his physical qualities and personality traits. Why is he considered a threat to society?
A threat. Because he is smart enough to know the circumstance and rebel.

The equality they think is equal but it's not.

In the Greek version book, I started to know Heracles. But in a cartoon movie, the character's called Hercules. To my surprise, they were all about Greek myths. What's more, I believe Hercules is another type of Heracles.

What I am saying is that these two person, well, they cannot be called person because they both are not human beings... Anyway, they had similarity and difference. In the book, I learned that Heracles was the son of Zeus. He was known as his incredible strength. It's his gift. But Hera cursed Heracles that he went crazy. He killed his children. In order to atone for his crime, he was told that he must serve for ten years as a slave of Eurystheus and perform ten labors for him. Poor Heracles... But in the movie Hercules, things were totally different. He was the son of Zeus and had incredible strength, like Heracles. But after he was born, he didn't curse by Hera or anybody else. Instead, he was stolen by Hades. Hades wanted to call the Titans to ruin the Olympus. But he heard that Hercules would stop his evil plan. So Hades's two stupid assistants were asked to make little Hercules drink a bottle of potion that could kill Hercules. But those two idiots missed the last drop of the potion. So he was not killed. He became a human being. And after he grew up, one day he beat a monster and saved a lot of citizens. After that, he became the hero in everyone's heart...

These two person's life were completely different. And the reason why these two writers made the differences is that the second one is cartoon, after all. It must be suitable for people of all ages. So no killing things, no bloody things. And of course, happy ending. Now that makes the two characters had two life.

Odin and Ymir is the Norse story of the origin of the earth. In the story, the earth and other things was made by the body of Ymir. So let's just take one we see in the world today: the rocks and crags. After a struggle between the giant and the young gods, Odin and his other two brothers killed Ymir. Although Ymir is the first of and ancestor of the frost-giants, he was not a god and eventually he turned to evil. They used his bones to make the rocks and crags. That's how these things came from in the Norse explanation.

About the reason why I think things were described this way is probably the cause of regions and culture. The Norse story took place in Europe, which was usually cold. So here came to region in the story: the one of heat and the one of cold. They saw things in their ways as they thought the region they were living was the whole world. Their culture that was different from others may be the most essential part of the way they described this way. Maybe they had wars all the time so that what they thought were all wars. Therefore, they used hairs, bones and some other parts of human bodies as the earth and other things. In their view of the world, everything was the result of bloody wars. They believe the world was cruel. Either kill, or be killed. So that's why they like wars and cause the creation story become the result of the great huge war. That's the reason why I think the Europeans described this e

About the family stories, I would like to tell you one when I was a little child. This story was about me.

When I started to learn to read, my family used computer to teach me. Of course, they were not using some tools, just the Chinese input method. When they typed in a single word, they asked me to read it. I don't really know the words. So if I met the words I knew, I would read it. But if I met the words I didn't know, I would read anything else, pretending that I knew the words. Unluckily, most of them I didn't even see them before. Therefore, as I got one word wrong, they would use a small ruler and beat me in the hand, gently. So one day, my parents went out for work. My nanny used this way to train me. I got wrong, she would say:" It's wrong! Give me your hand." And beat me in the hand, also gently. But just doing this made me feel tired. So I stopped reading that and told her:" Come and sit down! My turn!" As I pointed a word, I asked my nanny to say that word. As soon as she said that, I shouted:" It's wrong! Give me your hand!" And took her ruler, beat her in the hand gently. Actually, I didn't even know whether the words were wrong or not, and I didn't care. When she told my parents about this, everyone laughed happily. Although I didn't really remember, it was quite funny.

It's just one of the family stories. Almost everyone in the family were familiar with this story. I admitted I also laugh when they start to recall that. There were plenty of these, and these were all about me. These were precious memories of my childhood,

We all know about the story of Cinderella, right? What about the Chinese version? Well, it's not hard to imagine.

We don't need to change the story to make it Chinese, just the people and places in there. For example, we can change the time to the ancient times. Suppose the cinderella in the Chinese version was a princess. Her life was perfect until her mum died. And his dad, who was an emperor, brought a new mum to her. But she was bad to her...... Anyway, the overview of the story was all the same. Two other evil princess were also bad to her. They framed her up. So the princess fell and became a maid. She cleaned the palace, where the emperor couldn't see. She served that two princess, and lived in a dirty and dark place...... But she had a best friend, who was also a maid. They knew each other when she was still princess. They helped each other, and looked for chances to return to her own place...... A prince came from other country looked for a princess that fitted himself. After this, the story were all the same......

Another example is also Chinese version, but the story didn't happen in the palace. It also took place in ancient China. The Cinderella played kongfu. But those two evil sisters and their mum were even better than her and her father. So she had to do everything they said...... After suffering for a long time, she decided to fight back. With her friends' help, she went to foreign country to learn more. On the way of learning, she met a prince. He could even do wall-walking. Anyway, he was good. They fell in love. Then they learned kongfu together and finally defeated the evil.

These two examples were different, especially their styles. The other one was like action movie. But most Chinese story contained kongfu...... The first one was like Zhenhuanchuan. No action or kongfu. So in my opinion, these two were similar to Chinese style.

I used to read fairy tales when I was a child. To be honest, it influenced me a lot. But now, I think fairy tales are not as important as I used to think in our society.

In my opinion, some fairy tales are still important to our society, others are not. For example, in The emperor's new clothes, we can know that we cannot satisfy our own vanity and we should learn to control this. But in Snow White, it was totally different from our society. Who would believe an strange old lady that gave you an apple? For child, maybe. But now we are in 21 century. Things were different. People became more and more careful. So the story like Snow White, I think it's no longer important.

On the other hand, there are still some important lessons we can still learn from fairy tales. Many fairy tales like Pinocchio told us not to lie, even though everyone lied in their daily life. The emperor's new clothes told us not to be peacockish, Rumpelstiltskin told us to keep promise...... These lessons are useful in our society, even in our life. So it will be great if we can learn from it.

Although fairy tales are too old for us, they are classic. Ancient people invented them to make the life better. Whenever they are boring, we can ignore the importance of fairy tales. We may not like the uninteresting story, but we may like what really inside them.

Snow White, a classic fairy tale, is known by many people. This story is their memory of their childhood. Today, I read it for the second time.

After reading this story, I knew what made Snow white a fairy tale. The story had all features of fairy tales: simple story about magical creature, involves fantastic forces/ beings/ witches, usually improbable circumstances lead to a happy ending. First, the magical creature. The magical mirror is an example. A mirror can tell someone truth! Second, fantastic forces and witches. The queen was absolutely a witch. She could turn to an old lady any time; the servant was stumbled and Snow white spited the apple out, then the Snow white came back to life. This was really a fantastic force. Finally, the improbable circumstances lead to a happy ending. Of course, the stumble of the servant. The death of that bad queen was also another circumstance. Both of them lead this sad story to a happy ending.

There are some literary elements in this story. There was a simile in the beginning:' Soon afterward she had a little daughter who was as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as ebony wood.' Then there was irony in it. Snow white was dead because she believe the bad queen. So we can know that we should not trust someone that we don't know. Finally there is personification. Some animals even came to mourned for Snow white. To animals, mourn a person is not possible. So the literary elements--- personification made the animal have the feeling of human beings.

This kind of Snow white was different from the one I read when I was a child. The one I read is that the prince kissed the princess and made her come to life, which I believe is not true. In this story, w

Today I read two fairy tales: Rumplestiltskin and Rapunzel. In Rapunzel, the beginning of the story is that a man was going to save his wife by stealing something from an enchantress. He made a promise that he can get that thing as much as he wanted. In return, he must give the enchantress their baby. At last, he gave the baby to the enchantress. But in Rumplestiltskin, things are different. A girl promised a hobgoblin that if he can turn a thing that a king gave into gold, she will give her baby after she became the queen. But she broke that promise. By comparing to these two promise, I completely change my mind. I never had a chance to make a big promise like that. I used to think that promise is something that break just one or two times will be OK. But I was wrong. Some promises are so big that we must not break them. Let's talk about the promises in fairy tales. In Rapunzel, it was obviously that the character rushed into his promise. At that time, he was very frightened because he was caught by someone when he was stealing something. Take a look at the Rumplestiltskin. As the character was making a promise with the hobgoblin, she wants to make the thing turn into gold eagerly so that the king would be satisfied. On the other hand, she didn't even think that she would become a queen. Just like others. If you tell a citizen that in the future he will become the president of America, will he believe it? Of course not. So at the moment she made the promise with that hobgoblin, she didn't fully understand......
According to these two promises in fariy tales, we can know that promise are very important, especially some big ones. So in my opinion, let's try our best to keep the promise we made, just like an old saying: A word can never be withdrawn.

The most common sleeping beauty story is from the Brothers Grimm. But they didn't invent this story. They heard this story from Charles Perrault fairy tales. These two Sleeping Beauty stories have some common points and different points. The beginning was similar to each other, but that's it. In my opinion, they have a huge difference.
Of course, the Brothers Grimm changed it a little bit. But what they changed made this story better. Obviously, they made the story shorter. They deleted a long paragraph that was talking about the things after the prince met the princess. Actually, what they deleted was a little bit scary. For example, the queen( prince's mother) wanted to eat the kids and the princess. I don't think the little kids will accept this. So the story Brothers Grimm changed was much better.
At the beginning, the story both described that the princess was the king's daughter. And the prince was in love with the princess. So I think that the princess was the same character, too. But not the relationship of prince and princess. When the prince met princess and woke her up, he went out for war. That happened in Charles Perrault fairy tales. When he was out, his mother( queen) didn't like the princess, and she even ordered the cook to cook the princess and her children. Fortunately, the princess was back at that time. So the princess and her children was saved. After that, the princess and the prince lived happily ever after, but the princess didn't tell the prince the truth about what he saw when he was back. Therefore, there was a lie between the life of prince and princess. On the other hand, in the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, after the prince kissed the princess and brought the princess back. Then they lived happily ever after. I believe there were no lie in their life. So I think there are big difference in the relationship.
As you see, I prefer the Brothers Grimm kind of "Sleeping Beauty". It contains more happiness. Everyone likes happy ending. Although these two stories all had happy ending, the one in Brothers Grimm fairy tales is much shorter conand than the one in Charles Perrault fairy tales
